ArtZZone is an alternative art space born out of a deeply personal journey, a journey of searching for a meaningful way to survive, practice, and grow as an independent visual artist in the ever-changing urban reality of Dhaka.
For an artist, creating artwork is only one part of the journey. Equally important is sharing that work with people, building dialogue, and remaining actively connected to the social and human experiences that make both personal and collective life more meaningful. Yet in a busy, fast-moving, and increasingly fragmented metropolitan city like Dhaka, finding a genuine sense of community is not always easy. People are often occupied, disconnected, and constantly moving. Adding to this challenge, a transparent and sustainable art market has still not fully developed in the city, making the path of an independent artist even more complex.
With these realities in mind, over the past several years, I have been searching for a space where I could continue my own artistic practice while also connecting with a vibrant and promising part of society, especially the younger generation. That search eventually led me to this space near Shaheen College Gate.
This area is alive with movement, energy, and human interaction. Several educational institutions are located nearby, and every day, thousands of children, teenagers, university students, parents, grandparents, and people from diverse professions pass through this neighborhood. It is a place where different generations naturally meet, wait, observe, talk, and share moments of everyday life. For this reason, I felt this location offered the ideal environment for establishing my studio.
I named this space ArtZZone.
My vision for ArtZZone is to grow into a creative meeting point where art becomes a catalyst for conversation, learning, exchange, and meaningful human connection. Here, people from different ages, professions, and backgrounds can come together to share ideas, experiences, skills, and perspectives through art.
Young learners and aspiring artists will have opportunities to develop their artistic sensitivity, technical skills, and creative confidence through classes, workshops, studio sessions, and hands-on learning experiences. Parents and guardians can transform their waiting hours into meaningful and creative moments by participating in artistic and skill-sharing activities. People from different walks of life will also be invited to contribute their knowledge, expertise, and life experiences, making this space richer and more dynamic.
At the same time, ArtZZone offers an opportunity to engage directly with the outcomes of my own twenty-five-year artistic journey as an independent artist, including my studio practice, research, experiments, and ongoing exploration of art, society, and human experience. Just as visitors may find inspiration here, I, too, believe I will continue to grow through the powerful presence, stories, and individuality of the people who enter this space.

আর্টজোনে স্বাগতম
আর্টজোন একটি বিকল্প শিল্পচর্চার পরিসর। এই উদ্যোগের জন্ম হয়েছে ঢাকার মতো দ্রুত পরিবর্তনশীল মহানগরে একজন স্বতন্ত্র দৃশ্যশিল্পী হিসেবে টিকে থাকা, নিজের শিল্পচর্চাকে অব্যাহত রাখা, এবং শিল্পের মাধ্যমে মানুষের সঙ্গে অর্থবহ সংযোগ তৈরির গভীর প্রয়োজন থেকে।
একজন শিল্পীর কাজ শুধু শিল্পকর্ম সৃষ্টি করা নয়, বরং সেই সৃষ্টিকে মানুষের সঙ্গে ভাগ করে নেওয়া, সংলাপ তৈরি করা, এবং ব্যক্তি ও সমাজের জীবনকে আরও সংবেদনশীল, সৃজনশীল ও অর্থপূর্ণ করে তোলার প্রক্রিয়ায় সক্রিয় থাকা। কিন্তু আজকের ব্যস্ত, বিচ্ছিন্ন এবং দ্রুতগতির নগরজীবনে এমন স্বতঃস্ফূর্ত সামাজিক মিথস্ক্রিয়ার জায়গা খুঁজে পাওয়া সহজ নয়। তার সঙ্গে যুক্ত হয়েছে আরেক বাস্তবতা, ঢাকার মতো শহরেও এখনো একটি স্বচ্ছ ও সুসংগঠিত শিল্পবাজার পুরোপুরি গড়ে ওঠেনি।
এই বাস্তবতাগুলো বিবেচনায় রেখে, গত কয়েক বছর ধরে আমি এমন একটি জায়গার সন্ধান করছিলাম যেখানে নিজের শিল্পচর্চা অব্যাহত রাখার পাশাপাশি সমাজের সম্ভাবনাময় একটি অংশ, বিশেষ করে তরুণ প্রজন্মের সঙ্গে সরাসরি সংযোগ তৈরি করা যায়। সেই অনুসন্ধানের পথেই শাহীন কলেজ গেট এলাকার এই স্পেসটির সন্ধান পাই।
এটি একটি প্রাণবন্ত এলাকা, যেখানে একসঙ্গে বেশ কয়েকটি শিক্ষা প্রতিষ্ঠান রয়েছে। প্রতিদিন শিশু, কিশোর, তরুণ, অভিভাবক এবং বিভিন্ন বয়স ও পেশার মানুষের সরব উপস্থিতিতে জায়গাটি মুখরিত থাকে। আশপাশের কয়েকটি প্রতিষ্ঠানে আনুমানিক দশ হাজারেরও বেশি শিক্ষার্থীর নিয়মিত যাতায়াত, তাদের সঙ্গে আসা মা-বাবা, দাদা-দাদী, অভিভাবক এবং নানা পেশার মানুষের উপস্থিতি এই এলাকাকে একটি স্বতঃস্ফূর্ত সামাজিক মিলনস্থলে পরিণত করেছে। এই কারণেই আমি আমার স্টুডিও প্রতিষ্ঠার জন্য এই স্থানটিকে উপযুক্ত মনে করেছি।
এই স্টুডিওর নাম ArtZZone।
আমার বিশ্বাস, ArtZZone ধীরে ধীরে এমন একটি সৃজনশীল মিলনমঞ্চে পরিণত হবে, যেখানে শিল্পকে কেন্দ্র করে নানা আলাপ, ভাবনা, মতবিনিময় এবং আন্তঃপ্রজন্ম সংযোগের সুযোগ তৈরি হবে। এখানে নবীন শিক্ষার্থীরা শিল্পবোধ, পর্যবেক্ষণ ক্ষমতা এবং ব্যবহারিক দক্ষতা বিকাশের জন্য বিভিন্ন প্রশিক্ষণ, কর্মশালা ও স্টুডিও কার্যক্রমে অংশ নিতে পারবে। অভিভাবকেরা তাদের অপেক্ষার সময়কে সৃজনশীল ও অর্থবহ অভিজ্ঞতায় রূপ দিতে পারবেন। বিভিন্ন বয়স ও পেশার মানুষ নিজেদের জ্ঞান, দক্ষতা এবং অভিজ্ঞতা ভাগ করে নিয়ে এই পরিসরকে আরও সমৃদ্ধ করতে পারবেন।
একই সঙ্গে, একজন স্বতন্ত্র শিল্পী হিসেবে আমার গত পঁচিশ বছরের শিল্পযাত্রার অভিজ্ঞতা, কাজের প্রক্রিয়া, অনুসন্ধান এবং অর্জনও এই পরিসরে আগ্রহী মানুষদের সঙ্গে সরাসরি ভাগ করে নেওয়ার সুযোগ তৈরি করবে। আমি বিশ্বাস করি, যেমন মানুষ শিল্পীর কাছ থেকে অনুপ্রেরণা পাবে, তেমনি শিল্পীও সমৃদ্ধ হবেন মানুষের বহুমাত্রিক অভিজ্ঞতা, ব্যক্তিত্ব এবং জীবনবোধের সান্নিধ্যে।
